I am a Horticultural Artist living in Vista California.  I studied at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst for Plant and Soil Science and the Museum school of Fine Arts Boston for ceramics and painting.

I work primarily in clay, as well as pen and ink, watercolor and egg tempera paint.       Ceramics has played an integral role in my involvement with the arts and the plant world.

I experiment with mixing my own glazes. I like to see just what is around me in the world that can contribute to them. Various stones, certain plants, wood ash, salts and some of the native clays….. I like to see how they melt and what they contribute. I fire to cone 1 temperatures, which is between 2000 and 2100 F.

The pots I make I like to think of as “Specimen pots”. Pots that will fit and show off one’s special plant or maybe some of it’s features or interesting characteristics.  I hope you discover one that fits for you and your specimen plant.

My utilitarian pottery all have food safe glazing on the areas that would be in contact with food.
